RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Vice Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, believes that the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) combined with blockchain technology can strengthen the national trade system by preventing potential leaks, increasing efficiency, and reducing fraudulent practices. He said the digitalization of the trade chain from upstream to downstream allows the government and business actors to monitor the production, distribution, and transaction processes more accurately.

"If we can create a trade system with more accurate records, we can prevent leaks. Production can also be better because we can detect loss points, allowing for optimization," Nezar said in Central Jakarta, Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

He siad that blockchain technology can provide a transparent and hard-to-manipulate transaction recording system. Meanwhile, AI can be utilized to analyze data, predict market demand, optimize production, and improve the efficiency of goods distribution.

He said that so far, the processes of data transfer, payment, and logistics in the trade chain still incur additional costs. Therefore, an integrated digital system is needed so that business processes can run more efficiently.

"Every mode transfer incurs a cost. Moving to another platform incurs another cost." Therefore, the direction now is toward a seamless, end-to-end system, making business processes more efficient," he conveyed.

Nezar considers this approach in line with the government's efforts to promote digital transformation in the productive sector, particularly in agro-industry, which is one of the strategic sectors of the national economy.

"Technology can help improve the trading system, make its records more accurate, and reduce various potential frauds," Nezar said.

Furthermore, he appreciates the contribution of the academic community in the development of new technologies, including quantum computing and blockchain. According to him, collaboration between the government and universities is important so that Indonesia does not only become a user of technology but is also able to produce innovations that support national needs.
