KBRN, Surabaya: The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) is spearheading a wave of innovation in Indonesia's agricultural sector with the launch of the Smart Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Agricultural Industry Technology Research Consortium.

This ambitious initiative unites leading academic and research institutions to drive transformative change in the country's agricultural landscape.

ITS Rector Prof. Bambang Pramujati emphasized that this collaboration represents a long-term strategic step, with the expectation of yielding significant breakthroughs, particularly in the agricultural sector and food security.

"Indonesia, despite its immense agricultural potential, remains among the world's top food importers. Therefore, leveraging existing technology to develop our agricultural sector is crucial," Bambang said on Saturday, April 19, 2025, as quoted by rri.co.id.

The consortium is a collaborative effort between ITS and prominent institutions, including the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Udayana University, Prasetiya Mulya University, and Ehime University from Japan.

The consortium primarily focuses on developing precision agriculture techniques powered by AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. ***
