Sleman candidate pair promises women's school to address domestic violence

KBRN, Sleman: Sleman Regent and Vice Regent candidate pair Kustini Sri Purnomo and Sukamto, known with the acronym KuSuka, is promising to establish schools for women during its first 100 days of work if elected.

"Sleman Regency in the future must be more just and prosperous, especially for women," Sukamto said in a statement available to the press earlier this week.

Through the women's schools, he added, efforts would also be made to educate people and to provide assistance to victims of domestic violence. This program was a short-term solution in response to cases of domestic violence (KDRT).

"If we win the election, the women's schools will also function to empower the people's economy as we will accompany the women until they are truly prosperous."

The women's school program would also focus on addressing gender inequality. This means that women, in addition to being housewives, also have the right to earn additional income to meet the needs of their families.
