RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia advanced to the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 final after defeating Bangladesh 9-2 on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The decisive victory came at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and secured Indonesia’s place in the tournament final.
Indonesia finished first in Group A with seven points from three matches, ahead of Malaysia on goal difference. Malaysia also recorded a 6-0 victory over Singapore, but the result was insufficient to reach the final.
Indonesia dominated the match through a strong attacking display led by Mitchell Baker, who scored five goals. Rizky Ridho, Justin Hubner, Luke Vickery, and Kevin Diks also contributed goals for Indonesia.
Baker opened Indonesia’s scoring in the 11th minute after receiving Ole Romeny’s pass inside the penalty area. The 19-year-old striker doubled the lead nine minutes later before Ridho added Indonesia’s third goal.
Bangladesh reduced the deficit through Shahriar Emon’s header in the 36th minute. Indonesia immediately responded through Baker, who completed his hat-trick before scoring his fourth goal five minutes later.
Hubner then extended Indonesia’s advantage with a goal in first-half stoppage time. Indonesia entered halftime with a commanding 6-1 lead after maintaining pressure throughout the opening period.
Indonesia continued attacking after the break, while Bangladesh goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Srabon made several important saves. Vickery eventually scored Indonesia’s seventh goal in the 90th minute before Farhaan Ali Wahid pulled one back.
Diks scored Indonesia’s eighth goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time. Baker then completed his five-goal performance one minute later, sealing Indonesia’s 9-2 victory and final qualification.
Indonesia will face Thailand in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 final on Monday, October 5, 2026. The final will bring together the winners of Group A and Group B for the tournament title.
