RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian women’s recurve team advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Bangladesh 5-3 in a closely contested quarterfinal at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square, Japan, on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The result keeps Indonesia in contention for a medal and gives Rezza Octavia, Diananda Choirunisa and Fathiyya Erista Maharani an opportunity to compete against top-ranked South Korea in the last four.
Indonesia opened strongly by winning the first set 54-52 to take a 2-0 lead, Antara reported. Bangladesh responded in the second set as both teams scored 51 points, giving each side one point and leaving Indonesia ahead 3-1.
The contest became level at 3-3 after Bangladesh won the third set 54-52. Rezza and her teammates secured the victory in the decisive fourth set by scoring 53 points, while Bangladesh managed 50.
The win sent Indonesia into the semifinals, where it will face top-seeded South Korea, featuring Lee Yunji, Oh Yejin and Kang Chaeyoung. South Korea advanced after defeating Kazakhstan 5-3 in its quarterfinal.
Indonesia had previously eliminated Malaysia 6-2 in the round of 16. The Indonesian trio won the opening set 55-52 before Malaysia took the second 54-53. Indonesia then regained control by winning the third set 57-55 and fourth set 54-51.
Indonesia entered the team event as the fifth seed after scoring 1,977 points in the ranking round. South Korea was the top seed with 2,040 points. The Indonesia-South Korea semifinal is scheduled for 9 a.m. local time on October 2. The other semifinal will feature India against China. ***
