Rehan/Melati Win Mixed Doubles Title at Surabaya International Challenge 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Surabaya - Mixed doubles badminton pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Melati Daeva Oktavianti won the title at the Polytron Surabaya International Challenge 2026. Rehan/Melati secured the title after defeating fellow Indonesian pair Bagas Maulana/Apriyani Rahayu in straight games.

In the 37-minute final, Rehan/Melati defeated the fifth-seeded pair 21-19, 21-15. The match took place at GOR Bulutangkis Soedirman, Surabaya, on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

After the match, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto expressed his gratitude for winning their first title after playing three tournaments together with Melati. He said the title proved that Rehan and Melati could still compete and continue to develop.

“First of all, we are grateful because we were finally able to win our first title after playing three tournaments together. This title is certainly proof for us that we can still compete and continue to develop as a pair,” Rehan said in an official statement on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

According to Rehan, communication on the court was the most important thing. Reminding each other throughout the match was key to securing points.

“When we made mistakes, we tried to immediately refocus on the next point. So, communication and supporting each other were very important for us,” he added.

Echoing Rehan's remarks, Melati Daeva Oktavianti said they focused on one point at a time. Rehan/Melati did not think about winning or losing and instead focused on giving their best on the court.

“ We tried to focus point by point and enjoy the game on the court. The most important thing was how we could play to our full potential and give our best,” Melati said.

Melati then said they would always be ready for their upcoming matches. She explained that they are currently focusing on preparing for the Malaysia Super 100 and the Kudus Indonesia Masters.

“From this match, we also still need to conduct an evaluation. Perhaps we need to become stronger and more resilient, especially when facing difficult situations during matches.
