Indonesia Misses Asian Games Shooting Gold by Narrow Margin, Settles for Silver

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia settled for silver in the men's 10-meter air pistol team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after tying China on total score and losing the gold medal on inner-10 count.

Competing at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota, Japan, on Thursday, the Indonesian team of Muhamad Iqbal Raia Prabowo, Sulthanul Aulia Maruf, and Wira Sukmana recorded a total score of 1,743-57x, Antara reported.

China claimed the gold medal with 1,743-70x, while Indonesia took silver.

The final standings were determined by the number of inner-10 shots after Indonesia and China finished with the same overall score. China recorded 70 inner-10 shots, compared with Indonesia's 57.

Japan completed the podium with the bronze medal after posting 1,730-54x. The host nation finished ahead of India despite both teams recording the same score, thanks to a higher number of inner-10 shots.

Indonesia also placed two shooters in the individual final through Iqbal and Sulthanul. Iqbal emerged as the top shooter in the qualification round with 589 points to finish first.

Sulthanul placed third with 583-16x. He finished behind China's Bu Shuaihang, who also recorded 583 points but had 21 inner-10 shots.

Wira recorded 571 points, and the three shooters' combined scores produced Indonesia's team total.

The top eight shooters from the qualification round advanced to the individual final.

Iqbal and Sulthanul were scheduled to compete in the men's 10-meter air pistol individual final later on Thursday in pursuit of additional medals. ***
