Indonesia's Sayu Bella Wins Asian Games Mountain Bike Bronze

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian mountain biker Sayu Bella Sukma Dewi won the bronze medal in the women's cross-country event at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday after finishing the race in 1 hour and 28 minutes.

Sayu finished third, 1 minute and 46 seconds behind China's Xhifan Wu, who claimed the gold medal. Another Chinese rider, Zhenglan Liang, took silver with a time of 1 hour, 27 minutes and 5 seconds, Antara reported.

Sayu delivered a strong performance from the start. In the opening lap, the Indonesian rider led the field and held first place at three timing points before completing the lap in 12 minutes and 57 seconds.

She dropped to third place in the second lap but remained close to the leaders. At one point, Sayu trailed the race leader by just four seconds before finishing the lap in 25 minutes and 10 seconds, 11 seconds behind the leader.

Sayu maintained third place in the third lap. The gap briefly widened to 33 seconds before she reduced it to 31 seconds by the end of the lap, reaching the checkpoint in 37 minutes and 39 seconds.

In the fourth lap, Sayu continued to close the gap on the leaders. She completed the lap in 50 minutes and 13 seconds, just 11 seconds behind the frontrunner.

She remained in third place in the fifth and sixth laps, recording times of 1 hour, 2 minutes and 45 seconds, and 1 hour, 15 minutes and 28 seconds, respectively.

In the seventh and final lap, Sayu continued to hold third place. The gap to the leader increased from 1 minute and 20 seconds at the first timing point to 1 minute and 42 seconds at the third timing point.

Sayu finished in third place and secured the bronze medal after completing all seven laps.***
