Indonesian Swimming Team Advances to 4x100m Medley Relay Final at Asian Games 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo — The Indonesian swimming team advanced to the final of the men's 4x100-meter medley relay at the 2026 Asian Games after finishing third in the second heat with a time of 3 minutes and 38.97 seconds. According to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo received in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the Indonesian team consists of Jason Yusuf, Arya Hayono, Joe Kurniawan, and Kevin Prayitno. The four swimmers will compete again in the 4x100-meter medley relay final.

Meanwhile, in equestrian, Indonesia fielded four athletes in the qualification round: Marcho Alexandro, M. Zaki, Fergi Tri Nur Fajar, and Steven Menayang. The Indonesian equestrian team remains in the middle of the standings as they continue to fight for a strong position ahead of the cross-country discipline scheduled for Wednesday, September 23.

Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Nurmala Kartini P. Sjahrir, also witnessed the Indonesian swimming and equestrian teams compete at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and Tokyo Equestrian Park on Tuesday. Kartini said the Indonesian Embassy's presence was aimed at providing moral support to Indonesian athletes competing at the 2026 Asian Games.

"My team at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo and I are here not only to watch, but also to provide moral support and motivation to all our athletes who are giving their utmost to bring honor to Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Games," Kartini said.

She praised the Indonesian swimming team's achievement in reaching the final and the equestrian athletes' performance, which she said demonstrated composure and focus during the competition.

Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir, who was also present at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and Tokyo Equestrian Park, encouraged the athletes. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting the national athletes and ensuring they can perform at their best while representing Indonesia on the Asian stage.

As of Tuesday, September 22, Indonesia ranked 13th in the 2026 Asian Games medal standings, with one silver and six bronze medals.
