RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s singles shuttler Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan failed to extend her team’s lead in the Asian Games 2026 quarterfinal against Taiwan, losing to Chiu Pin‑Chian at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium, Japan, on Tuesday, September 22.
Thalita surrendered 21–15, 18–21, 11–21, allowing Taiwan to cut the deficit to 1–2 in the team event. She admitted frustration over the second game, where she briefly gained momentum but rushed her play and conceded points.
“Alhamdulillah, I finished without injury, though the result was not what I hoped. In the second game I was too hasty and wasted points,” she said.
She acknowledged the third game was tougher as her opponent adjusted strategy and capitalized on errors. “Her ranking is quite high, and today’s match was valuable experience. I need to be more resilient on court,” Thalita added.
Earlier, Putri Kusuma Wardani and doubles pair Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum secured victories, giving Indonesia a 2–1 advantage as the team continues its push for a semifinal berth. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
