RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s men’s table tennis team saw its Asian Games 2026 campaign end in the group stage, following a 1–3 defeat to Iran in Group F at Sky Hall Toyota, Japan, on Monday, September 21.
Indonesia opened with promise as Muhammad Negara pushed Iran’s Noshad Alamiyan to five games, stealing the first 11–9 before falling 2–3 (9–11, 11–3, 11–8, 7–11, 11–5).
In the second match, Muhammad Junindra battled Nima Alamian but lost 1–3 (7–11, 7–11, 12–10, 10–12).
With Iran needing only one more win, Affan Pratama kept Indonesia’s hopes alive by defeating Aryan Ghaffari 3–1 (13–11, 11–9, 9–11, 11–2). But in the fourth match, Negara returned to face Nima Alamian and was swept 0–3 (5–11, 6–11, 5–11), sealing Iran’s victory.
The result left Indonesia with one win and two losses in the team event, after earlier matches saw a 0–3 loss to India and a 3–0 win over Pakistan.
