RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Jakarta will stage the International Automobile Federation (FIA) Rallycross World Cup 2026 for the first time on December 5–6 at the Jakarta International E‑Prix Circuit in Ancol, the venue previously used for Formula E.
Event organizer and Sarga.co CEO Nugdha Achadie confirmed that modifications to the circuit have begun to meet FIA rallycross standards.
“We are adapting the E‑Prix track in Ancol, combining asphalt with gravel sections to create a proper rallycross circuit,” he said during the Road to FIA Rallycross World Cup 2026 - Introducing Kevin Hansen press conference on Tuesday, September 15.
Construction is scheduled to run through November, ensuring the track is ready for December’s competition.
The Jakarta edition will feature world‑class drivers, including rally legend Sebastian Loeb and reigning FIA Extreme X World Cup 2025 champion Kevin Hansen. Nugdha noted that the full driver lineup will be finalized by FIA.
Hansen expressed enthusiasm about racing in Indonesia, praising both the warm welcome and the venue’s potential.
“My experience here has been incredible. I believe Jakarta offers a fantastic location for the Rallycross World Cup,” he said, adding that the event will deliver a unique experience for fans, allowing them to watch races up close and interact more directly with the sport.
Local participation is also a priority. Moreno Soeprapto, Chairman of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), emphasized that the event provides an opportunity to showcase Indonesian drivers internationally.
“IMI has long worked with Sarga to find breakthroughs for the automotive industry. This event will have an extraordinary impact,” he stated.
The FIA Rallycross World Cup 2026 Jakarta is expected to not only bring global motorsport excitement to Indonesia but also strengthen the country’s presence in international racing. With a mix of global stars and local talent, the event aims to boost both the sport’s popularity and the nation’s automotive industry. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
