RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s U-20 national team has returned home after completing their campaign in the 2027 AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers in Laos. The squad, led by coach Nova Arianto, landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 16:56 local time.
Their arrival coincided with the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, which had disrupted flights and forced temporary airport closures across Indonesia. Nova expressed relief that conditions had improved in time for the team’s scheduled return.
“From the start, PSSI planned for us to come back today. I’m grateful the situation was better so we could land safely in Jakarta,” he said, referring to the Indonesian Football Association.
The journey home was marked by uncertainty as Soekarno-Hatta Airport was among those affected by volcanic ash. Contingency plans were considered, but improving weather allowed the team to land as planned.
