Indonesia Showcases Cultural Identity in Asian Games 2026 Uniforms

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s 432 athletes heading to the Asian Games Aichi‑Nagoya 2026 will carry the nation’s cultural identity through official uniforms featuring Gorga motifs from Toba and Limar patterns from South Sumatra.

National Olympic Committee (NOC) Indonesia Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari said the uniforms are more than sporting apparel. They symbolize Indonesia’s presence on the international stage.

“Each time our athletes wear this apparel, they carry a story of Indonesia. From our cultural diversity emerges one identity as Team Indonesia,” he noted in Jakarta on Thursday, September 3, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Gorga, representing strength and protection, and Limar, symbolizing honor and excellence, were translated into modern designs by Ghea Panggabean of Ghea Fashion Studio. Sarinah curated the designs, while Mills produced the official apparel. The project marks Ghea’s first venture into sportswear after 45 years of exploring Nusantara textiles and culture.

“Designing uniforms for the nation’s sports ambassadors is an extraordinary honor. Gorga embodies strength and protection, while Limar reflects honor and excellence,” Ghea said.

Chef de Mission Todotua Pasaribu expressed hope the uniforms will inspire pride among athletes. “From these jerseys, we want athletes to feel proud, to compete with heads held high, and to raise the Red‑and‑White flag at the Asian Games 2026,” he explained. ***
