RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Fresh off a strong North American hard‑court run, Indonesia’s Aldila Sutjiadi and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe enter the US Open 2026 as the ninth seeds in women’s doubles.
Their campaign begins against Denmark‑American duo Clara Tauson and Ann Li in the opening round, according to Wednesday’s WTA draw.
The seeding reflects Aldila/Routliffe’s consistent form, highlighted by their WTA 500 triumph at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington, adding to their Bad Homburg title earlier this season. In Washington, they convincingly defeated Andreja Klepac/Makoto Ninomiya 6‑4, 6‑1 in the final.
Their momentum carried into Toronto, Canada, where they stunned Wimbledon champions Kristina Mladenovic/Hanyu Guo in the opening round before bowing out in the round of 16. The pair also reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 Cincinnati, proving their ability to compete against the world’s best.
Although Aldila briefly partnered with Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Kichenok in Monterrey as a warm-up, the early exit did not diminish her confidence heading into New York. The US Open now offers a chance for Aldila and Routliffe to consolidate their reputation as one of the most consistent doubles teams on tour.
Meanwhile, their opponents Tauson and Li are also active in singles competition. Tauson exited in the first round, while Li, seeded 29th, advanced to the second round, adding an extra layer of challenge as both balance commitments across formats. ***
