Berlin Tournament to Offer Indonesian Young Players European Experience

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The International Women's U18 Basketball Tournament Berlin 2026 will give Indonesia’s young female basketball players an opportunity to expand their international experience as part of the national team’s development program.

The Indonesian U18 women’s basketball team will compete in the tournament in Berlin, Germany, from September 3-6, 2026, following a series of preparations and trial matches conducted in Indonesia, Antara reported.

The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi), through its Instagram account @perbasi.ina monitored in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 1, said the tournament would allow Indonesia’s young players to test themselves against opponents from different countries.

The tournament will be held alongside the 2026 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Berlin, providing the players with an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of international basketball in Germany.

Perbasi said 12 selected players would represent Indonesia in the tournament and are scheduled to play four international matches.

According to data from the organizers, eight teams will participate in the tournament, divided into two groups, Group A and Group B. Indonesia will compete in Group B against Basketball Magic Australia, CB Canarias and Sopron Basket.

Beyond gaining competitive experience, Perbasi said the tournament would allow the players to experience the international basketball environment directly in Germany. The trip to Berlin will also broaden the players’ experience after they completed a series of preparations and trial matches at home.
