Indonesia Masters Pontianak Highlights Global Participation and Local Momentum

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Polytron Pontianak Indonesia Masters 2026, part of the BWF World Tour Super 100, is set to bring international badminton action to West Kalimantan from September 1–6. Hosted at the Ahmad Yani Integrated Sports Hall, Pontianak, the tournament features 356 athletes from 17 countries competing for a prize pool of USD 120,000, making Pontianak a rising hub for world-class badminton.

Indonesia enters the competition with the largest contingent, 107 players, followed by Taiwan (79), India (34), China (29), and Thailand (22). The event follows the Pontianak International Challenge 2026, where Indonesia dominated with three titles, and now offers greater BWF ranking points due to its Super 100 status, Antara reported on Monday, August 31, 2026.

Among the headline names is Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who continues his search for consistency after mixed results this season. His campaign will be supported by fellow men’s singles players Prahdiska Bagas M. Shujiwo, Muhamad Yusuf, Richie Duta Richardo, Bismo Raya Oktora, Dendi Triansyah, and Christian Adinata, facing strong rivals such as India’s H.S. Prannoy and Taiwan’s Wang Po Wei.

Indonesia’s women’s singles lineup includes Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi, Chiara Marvella Handoyo, and Dalila Aghnia Puteri, while doubles competition features Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Daniel Edgar Marvino in men’s doubles and Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo in women’s doubles.

In mixed doubles, Indonesia will rely on Dejan Ferdinansyah/Apriyani Rahayu -- fresh off their Pontianak International Challenge victory -- and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
