RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has two chances to add representatives to the main draw of the fourth series of the 2026 ITF M15 Amman Mineral Men’s World Tennis Championship after Gunawan Trismuwantara and 17‑year‑old Ethan David Zapp reached the final qualifying round in Bali on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Gunawan advanced after producing a dominant 6–3, 6–0 victory over Australia’s Sebastian Huggins in 56 minutes at Bali Beach Country Club, Nusa Dua, Bali.

“Focusing from game to game was the main factor behind my victory. However, this is still far from enough because the next match will be tougher,” Gunawan said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, August 30, as quoted by Antara.

The 23‑year‑old Indonesian displayed an increasingly aggressive game, particularly in the second set, where he did not allow Huggins to win a single game.

Gunawan will face Japan’s Haruto Ishikawa in the qualifying final. Ishikawa previously defeated Ashwin Ryan Sharma 6–2, 3–6, 10–8 in a three‑set match.

Indonesia’s other remaining hope comes from Ethan, who at 17 is the youngest of the two players to reach the final qualifying round.

Ethan secured his place after defeating fellow Indonesian Dewana Gustaman 6–2, 6–3. He will next meet fourth seed Ren Nakamura of Japan for a place in the main draw.

The progress of Gunawan and Ethan provides a positive result for Indonesia, which entered six players in the qualifying round.

The other four Indonesian representatives -- Renaldi Aquila Salim, M. Ragil Putra, Kareem Abdul Hakim, and Raphael Rio Suryana -- were eliminated in the opening round.

Kareem lost to Azuma Visaya 1–6, 4–6, while Renaldi fell to Stefan Menichella 1–6, 0–6. Raphael was defeated by Matthew Shearer 3–6, 4–6, while Ragil lost to Thomas Patton 1–6, 1–6.

The tournament series has returned to ITF M15 status after previously using the Universal Tennis Rating Pro Tennis Tour (UTR PTT) category.

The fourth series of the 2026 ITF M15 Amman Mineral Men’s World Tennis Championship runs from August 31 to September 6.

The qualifying round, which began Sunday, features 32 players from 12 countries competing for eight places in the main draw. ***
