Indonesian Volleyball Reach Quarterfinals at AVC Women’s Continental 2026

RRI.CO.ID, China - Indonesian women's national volleyball team concluded the Group B stage of the AVC Women's Continental 2026 with a convincing 3-0 victory over Australia at Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium, China, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

The result secured the Red and White squad's ticket to the quarterfinals.

Indonesia dominated with scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-21. It was the Garuda Pertiwi's second victory after previously defeating Kazakhstan 3-0 last Saturday.

National team manager Luciana Taroreh expressed gratitude for the victory. "The players showed great fighting spirit and teamwork, enabling us to achieve our initial target of reaching the knockout stage," Luciana said.

Indonesia finished fourth in the combined standings. The team will face Iran in the quarterfinals.

Luciana acknowledged that Iran would not be an easy opponent, given the team's quality and experience. "We will prepare as well as possible for the match," she said.

She emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency and minimizing unforced errors. "If the players can play more steadily, stay disciplined, and remain focused, we are confident we can put up our best fight," she added.

"Regardless of the opponent, we will fight our hardest to achieve the best result for Indonesia," she continued.

Against Australia, Indonesia relied on Medi Yoku, Chelsa Berliana, Miradanti Namira, Arneta Putri, Arsela Nuari Purnama, and Ersandrina Devega. Indonesia ended the group stage with two wins and one loss.

Indonesia's momentum was briefly halted by a 0-3 defeat to Thailand on Monday, and Marcos Sugiyama's team is now preparing for the challenge in the quarterfinals. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
