RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s men’s singles shuttler Alwi Farhan refused to get carried away following his two straight-game victories at the BWF World Championships 2026, acknowledging that tougher challenges await in the round of 16 in New Delhi, India.

“For me, every match is a test of how I respond. There is no easy match at the World Championships because every player comes to achieve the best result,” Alwi said in a PBSI statement after defeating Finland’s Joakim Oldorff 21–12, 21–9 on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Although he has yet to drop a game -- having also beaten South Korea’s Yoo Tae Bin 21–17, 21–12 in the opening round -- Alwi stressed that he treats each contest seriously rather than as a warm-up. He explained that his approach is to stay focused, give his best effort, and leave the outcome to God.

Against Oldorff, Alwi had to adjust to the European playing style, which he described as “slightly different and tricky.” He credited a one-day rest for helping his recovery and readiness. “The opponent’s pattern was different, but I anticipated it. The break also helped me prepare well for the match,” he said.

The 21-year-old controlled the game comfortably to secure another straight-game win, but he remains cautious about the road ahead. “Alhamdulillah (All Praises to Allah), I managed this match. Now the focus is to prepare as best as possible because the next round will definitely be tougher,” Alwi concluded. ***
