RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s women’s doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari (Ana/Trias) are aiming for a podium finish at the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi, but insisting their focus remains on taking each match step by step after opening with a confident victory.
Seeded 13th, Ana/Trias defeated Turkey’s Yasemen Bektas/Sinem Yildiz in straight games, 21–12, 21–14, during their round of 32 match on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. “Of course, the hope is to reach the podium, but the most important thing is to stay focused on every match. Mistakes from previous tournaments must really be corrected,” Ana said in a PBSI statement, as quoted by Antara.
In their first appearance at the tournament, the pair deliberately avoided rushing into their attacking pattern, instead using rallies to read the court conditions and the wind. “It was our first match, so we needed to adjust to the court. We tried longer rallies and more strokes to understand the wind’s character,” Ana explained.
That approach helped them control the game despite the Turkish pair’s solid defense and sharp play at the net. “They were good at reading the shuttle in front and their defense was strong. We anticipated that from the start,” Trias noted.
For Trias, the World Championships debut also brought excitement, though she acknowledged the need to manage emotions. “I’m happy to finally play at the World Championships. There’s enthusiasm, but it must be controlled so it doesn’t affect our game,” she concluded.
The victory sends Ana/Trias into the round of 16, where they will face Malaysia’s Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Their mission now is to maintain consistency and apply lessons learned from past tournaments as they continue their pursuit of a place on the World Championships podium. ***
