Indonesia Test Senior-Young Player Mix Ahead of Asian Games

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s national volleyball team will use the Samdech Thipadei Cup in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to test its mix of senior and young players ahead of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on August 19, 2026, and will form part of Indonesia’s preparations for the Asian Games. The Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) announced the team’s participation through its official Instagram account on Sunday, August 18.

PBVSI has previously called up 18 players for the Asian Games preparations, consisting of three setters, five middle blockers, two liberos, six outside hitters, and two opposite hitters, Antara reported.

The setters are Alfin Daniel Pratama, Dio Zulfikri, and Jasen Natanael Kilanta. The middle blockers are Hendra Kurniawan, Muhammad Malizi, Ahmad Gumilar, Putra Bagus Hidayatulloh, and Tedi Oka Syahputra.

The two liberos are Abhinaya Fahreza Rakha and Raihan Rizky Attorif. The outside hitters are Farhan Halim, Luvi Febrian Nugraha, Sigit Ardian, Fahri Septian Putratama, Boy Arnez Arabi, and Agil Anggara.

Rama Fazza Fauzan and Fauzan Nibras will fill the opposite hitter positions.

Sigit Ardian is the most senior player based on his national team debut in 2010. He is followed by Dio Zulfikri, who debuted in 2019, and Muhammad Malizi, who made his national team debut in 2021.

The combination of experienced players and younger talents is expected to provide Indonesia with both experience and regeneration as the team prepares for the men’s volleyball competition at the 2026 Asian Games.

The Asian Games men’s volleyball competition will feature 16 countries divided into four groups. Group A consists of hosts Japan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. Indonesia is in Group B with Iran, Thailand, and Kyrgyzstan.

Group C features Qatar, India, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, while Group D consists of South Korea, China, Taiwan, and the Philippines. ***
