BWF Sends Integrity Rules to Indonesian Players Amid Probes

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has circulated updated integrity regulations to Indonesian athletes as part of efforts to reinforce fair play, following allegations of match fixing involving national players.

Indonesian shuttler Amri Syahnawi confirmed the reminder, noting that athletes were asked to study the new guidelines carefully.

“We were warned again just a few weeks ago. BWF sent us new rules to review because there are many details we must examine closely and handle with caution,” Amri told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The BWF is currently investigating integrity breaches linked to Indonesian players suspected of involvement in match fixing. In response, athletes received documents outlining the regulations, which coaches then explained further to ensure full understanding.

“Yes, it’s always explained. Coaches remind us daily, and we’re given PDFs to study. Later, coaches provide more guidance, so we don’t forget,” Amri added.

Indonesian player Nita Violina Marwah emphasized that coaches act as intermediaries between the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) and athletes in reinforcing integrity rules. “We are reminded by coaches, who pass on instructions from the federation,” she said.

Match fixing is the deliberate manipulation of a sports contest to predetermine its outcome, often for financial gain or strategic advantage. It is considered cheating, violates the rules of the game, and in many jurisdictions is also illegal. ***
