RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s rising tennis player Lucky Candra Kurniawan strengthened his credentials for the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in Japan, September 19 - October 4, after clinching the men’s singles title at the Indonesia Tennis League Series 1 in Jakarta on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

The second seed defeated top seed Tegar Abdi Satrio Wibowo in a hard-fought final, winning 6–2, 1–6, 6–0. “Alhamdulillah (All Praises to Allah), I’m grateful for this victory. I want to thank my coach, my friends, and especially my parents for their prayers,” Lucky said after the match, as quoted by Antara.

His path to the championship was marked by consistent performances, overcoming Muhamad Adhitya (6–3, 6–1), M Mouressi Urwah (6–3, 6–4), Muhammad Akmal Junaini (6–4, 6–4), and Ega Uneputty (6–2, 6–4) before the final showdown.

Despite the triumph, Lucky admitted there are areas to improve. “The biggest challenge is believing in myself. You have to beat yourself first before you can play the right way,” he explained, noting lapses in confidence and consistency during key moments.

He also pointed to physical conditioning as a priority. “Maybe fitness is the most important. First the physical side, then technique and playing style,” Lucky said.

His schedule remains packed, with appearances at the Riau Open and the Men’s Future tournament in Bali, both serving as preparation for potential selection to Indonesia’s Asian Games squad.

While he has yet to set a specific target for the continental event, Lucky remains optimistic. “I don’t know if I’ll be included, but most likely, in shaa Allah (If God Wills),” he remarked.
