RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's hopes of reaching the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 semifinals remain alive despite a 3-0 defeat to Vietnam, with players insisting the Garuda can still advance by defeating Singapore in their decisive final Group A match.

Striker Mitchell Baker said Indonesia's fate remains in its own hands after the loss at Pakansari Stadium in Bogor, West Java, on Monday evening, August 6. "We only have one chance to keep that opportunity alive in Singapore," Baker said after the match, as quoted by Antara.

Defender Jordi Amat also urged Indonesian supporters to continue backing the team despite the disappointing result. He admitted the squad had entered the match determined to win but failed to find a way past Vietnam.

"We believed we could win today, but it didn't happen. We tried, but we couldn't find the way. I think we played better in the second half, but it wasn't enough. Now we have to learn from today," he said.

Captain Rizky Ridho took responsibility for his performance, acknowledging that his mistakes contributed to Vietnam's goals. "I realize I made several mistakes today that led to us conceding goals," Ridho said during the post-match press conference.

Indonesia will now travel to Singapore for their final Group A fixture, scheduled for August 7, 2026, where victory would keep their hopes of reaching the semifinals alive. ***
