RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's ONIC closed its campaign at the 2026 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) in the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC) with a prestigious finish, sweeping Team Falcons PH 3-0 in Paris, France, on Saturday, August 2, 2026. The result secured the Indonesian representative another world podium finish and added to its international achievements in Mobile Legends competitions.
The victory also served as revenge for ONIC after losing to Falcons PH, the Filipino team representatives, in the group stage. The Indonesian team dominated throughout the match, taking three straight games to end the tournament on a positive note after failing to reach the grand final, where they were defeated by Team Spirit in the semifinal.
“Thank God, the revenge match finally worked out. I’m happy. We ended MSC EWC this time with a win because in the previous MSC EWC we lost,” ONIC coach Sanz said after the match on Saturday, as quoted by Antara.
Sanz said the result brought particular satisfaction because the team managed to recover after a disappointing semifinal loss and finish the tournament on a positive note. “I’m happier and more relieved because we ended with a win,” Sanz said.
ONIC took control from the first game through disciplined rotations and aggressive play. Falcons PH struggled to break out of the pressure, allowing ONIC to secure the opener without giving their opponents much room to grow.
The dominance continued in game two, when ONIC again controlled the pace from the start and closed the game in around 10 minutes. Their lead in objectives and economy left Falcons PH unable to catch up.
In game three, ONIC maintained the same intensity. Several team-fight wins paved the way for the Indonesian side to complete the match 3-0 and secure third place.
Beyond his team’s victory, Sanz said the global Mobile Legends scene has become increasingly competitive. He noted that teams outside Southeast Asia have improved rapidly and are now able to challenge the traditional powers from Indonesia and the Philippines.
“Because it’s also clear in this EWC that other regions have really caught up. The grand final doesn’t feature Indonesia or the Philippines. Now it’s Myanmar and Team Spirit representing Eastern Europe and Central Asia,” said Sanz.
He added that the progress is visible in the quality of play, from strategy and hero selection to increasingly mature execution compared with previous editions. “Their gameplay, hero pool, and way of playing have changed a lot compared with last year’s EWC,” said Sanz.
The result leaves ONIC finishing MSC 2026 in third place. The achievement makes them Indonesia’s best-performing representative after Team Vitality were eliminated in the quarterfinals. ***
