RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi credited an aggressive start as the decisive factor in her semifinal triumph with partner Erin Routliffe of New Zealand at the Mubadala Citi DC Open 2026 in Washington, D.C.
The second seeds advanced to the women’s doubles final after dismantling China’s Qian Tang and Yifan Xu 6‑1, 6‑1 in just 61 minutes on Saturday, August 1.
“We didn’t set expectations from the beginning because we didn’t want to overthink the result. Playing aggressively from the start and controlling points from the first game made the difference,” Aldila stated, as quoted by Antara.
She added that maintaining momentum early prevented their opponents from finding rhythm. “We kept the lead from the start and didn’t give them room to recover. That was the main factor behind today’s easy win,” she said.
Aldila and Routliffe broke serve in the opening game and never looked back, closing the first set 6‑1 before repeating the scoreline in the second.
Their dominance was reflected in the statistics: they won 51 of 83 points (61.4 percent), converted six of eight break opportunities, and captured 56 percent of points on their opponents’ first serve and 62.5 percent on second serve.
