RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s basketball team is determined to rise above its underdog status as it prepares to face Asia’s elite powers at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

Team member Prisila Karen said the squad remains confident despite the daunting challenge of competing against heavyweights such as China and South Korea.

“We will give our best for Indonesia at the Asian Games 2026,” she stated in Jakarta on Friday, July 31, 2026, as quoted by Antara, following a visit by Chef de Mission Todotua Pasaribu to the national training camp in Surabaya, East Java.

Prisila emphasized that the team is sharpening its preparations to meet the high level of competition. While acknowledging the difficulty of the task, she stressed that the players are motivated to deliver strong performances and represent Indonesia proudly on Asia’s biggest sporting stage.

She also welcomed the support shown by Todotua Pasaribu and his delegation, noting that their presence provided a morale boost. “We are grateful for the attention given to women’s basketball. Hopefully, this sport will continue to gain recognition,” she said.

Despite being labeled non‑favorites, Prisila insisted that the team’s spirit remains undiminished. Instead, the underdog status serves as added motivation to surprise opponents with greater experience and stronger records.

The squad continues intensive training to improve technical, tactical, physical, and team cohesion aspects, aiming to reach peak performance in Nagoya.
