RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia is stepping up its bid to become a major force in world jetski sport by hosting the Indonesia International Jetsport Grand Prix (IGP) 2026 at Jetski Academy Indonesia, Ancol, Jakarta, from December 2–6.
The event is designed to showcase international‑standard competition while strengthening Indonesia’s position on the global jetski map.
Indonesia Jetsport Boating Association (IJBA) Chairman Syaiful Sutan Aswar said the tournament will bring together elite athletes from around the world, competing for a prize pool exceeding USD 200,000 across eight racing categories.
“This event is built to deliver quality racing, not just another competition. We want participants to experience true international standards,” he told reporters in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara.
The IGP 2026 also serves as a precursor to the Indonesia Jetsports World Series (IJWS), set to officially launch in 2027.
Categories range from professional GP classes to amateur divisions, providing opportunities for emerging Indonesian riders to gain experience before advancing to professional levels.
Qualification rounds will precede the main races, with most categories limited to 20 competitors and GP classes capped at 18. Interest from abroad is strong, with hundreds of athletes from more than 40 countries--including Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and Europe--already signaling participation.
Beyond sport, organizers expect the event to boost Indonesia’s economy through tourism, hospitality, small businesses, and supporting industries. IJBA hopes the Grand Prix will position Indonesia as a premier sport tourism destination in Asia while nurturing the domestic jetski ecosystem.
