RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia strengthened its foothold in men’s singles badminton as Jonatan Christie rose to world No. 3 and teenager Moh Zaki Ubaidillah broke into the top 25 in the latest BWF rankings released Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Jonatan collected 89,231 points to overtake Denmark’s Anders Antonsen, who slipped to fourth with 87,705, Antara reported. His rise came after reaching the quarterfinals of the China Open 2026 in Changzhou, where he fell to Canada’s Victor Lai in straight games.

The defeat marked Jonatan’s second consecutive loss to Lai, following their clash in the Indonesia Open final earlier this month.

At the top, China’s Shi Yu Qi leads with 94,255 points, followed by Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn on 91,215. France’s Christo Popov remains fifth, while China Open champion Chou Tien Chen holds sixth. Lai’s semifinal run lifted him to seventh, ahead of China’s Li Shi Feng, France’s Alex Lanier, and Japan’s Kodai Naraoka, who round out the top 10.

Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan stays just outside the elite group at No. 11, trailing Naraoka by 611 points. Alwi, who briefly entered the top 10 after winning the Australian Open, slipped following early exits in Japan and China.

Meanwhile, 19‑year‑old Ubaidillah, known as Ubed, climbed from 26th to 25th with 46,291 points after reaching the round of 16 at the Japan Open, his debut in a Super 750 event. Absent from the China Open, he now eyes further progress at the Taipei Open 2026 (July 28–August 2).

The latest rankings underscore Indonesia’s growing depth in men’s singles, with Jonatan consolidating his place among the world’s elite and Ubed emerging as a promising new contender. ***
