RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s climbing legend turned team manager, Aries Susanti Rahayu, believes the national sport climbing squad is well-positioned to achieve its target of two gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Drawing on her own experience as a former Asian Games champion, she insists the goal remains realistic with structured preparation and strong collaboration across the team.

“Our target is two golds--one from speed and one from lead. Please keep supporting the athletes so they can stay focused and give their best for Indonesia,” Aries said during training camp in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Her confidence stems not only from her past success--she won gold in speed at the 2018 Asian Games--but also from the steady progress of Indonesian climbers on the international stage in recent years.

Aries emphasized that effective training programs and close guidance from coaches will be key to turning potential into podium finishes.

She highlighted the importance of synergy between federation officials, coaches, and management in building a support system that allows athletes to concentrate fully on preparation. Ensuring athletes’ needs are met, both in training and competition, is a top priority for the national camp.

The squad will head to Japan with nine athletes--five men and four women--competing across speed, lead, and boulder disciplines. Aries expressed hopes the team’s efforts, combined with public support, will help the climbers perform without pressure and deliver their best in Aichi-Nagoya.
