RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - For Indonesia’s men’s volleyball team, the second round of the SEA V Cup 2026 in Jakarta is more than just a title chase; it is a chance for redemption.

The squad will open their campaign against Cambodia, the surprise champions of the first round in Candon, the Philippines, where they stunned Indonesia in a five-set thriller.

The tournament, hosted at the Jakarta International Velodrome in East Jakarta, from July 22–26, brings together six teams split into two groups. Indonesia is drawn in Group A with Cambodia and the Philippines, while Group B features Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar.

The top two from each group will advance to the semifinals, with the final scheduled for Sunday, July 26.

Chairman of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI), Imam Sudjarwo, acknowledged that the competition has grown more unpredictable.

“The rivalry is no longer just about traditional powers like Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines," he said in a statement, on Monday, July 20, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

"Cambodia has shown they can surprise everyone by winning the first round. Hopefully, Indonesia can claim the championship in this second round,” he added.

Indonesia enters the tournament with confidence from past success. As hosts of the SEA V League 2025, they went unbeaten, defeating Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines.

Chairman of the organizing committee, Zulfarshah, assured that preparations at the Velodrome are complete. “I hope the public will come and support the national team from July 22 to 26,” he concluded.

The opening clash against Cambodia on Wednesday, July 22 at 7 p.m. Jakarta time, will be a crucial test for Farhan Halim and teammates, who must overcome the psychological edge Cambodia gained in their previous meeting.

Indonesia will then face the Philippines on Friday, July 24, with both matches determining their semifinal path.
