RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has once again secured a place in the championship match of a global esports tournament.
Team Vitality advanced to the grand final of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s Invitational (MWI) Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 after staging a comeback in the semifinals at Paris Expo Porte De Versailles, France, on Friday, July 17, 2026.
The Indonesian women’s team defeated Geltek Cyber Team 3-1, keeping alive their hopes of defending the MWI championship title won in the previous edition.
Team captain Vivi “Vivian” Indrawaty admitted her squad initially struggled to read their opponent’s strategy in the opening game.
“We really had no idea which heroes they’d pick, or what their power heroes were,” Vivian was quoted as saying by Antara. She added that this led Team Vitality to miss several good counter heroes. “We learned a lot from that, then adjusted our draft and gameplay,” she said.
Geltek Cyber Team, representing Eastern Europe and Central Asia, dominated the first game by controlling the draft phase, securing key objectives, and building an economic lead.
In the second game, Team Vitality shifted to a more aggressive approach. Tight rotations and coordinated team fights allowed them to level the score at 1-1.
Their performance grew increasingly consistent in the third and fourth games, as strong teamwork and objective control sealed a 3-1 victory.
Earlier, Team Vitality reached the semifinals after defeating fellow Indonesian side Team Falcons ID in the quarterfinals. In Saturday night’s grand final, they will face NAVI PH from the Philippines to compete for and defend their MWI EWC 2026 title. ***
