RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's hopes of retaining the MLBB (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang) Women's Invitational (MWI) world title received an early boost after defending champions Team Vitality opened their 2026 campaign with a straight-games victory, giving the country strong momentum at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Paris.

The defending champions, featuring Viorelle "Vival" Valencia Chen, Venny "Fumi Eko" Lim, Cindy "Cinny" Laurent Siswanto, Michelle "Chell" Denise Siswanto, and Vivi "Vivian" Indrawaty, took control from the opening game.

"We controlled the game early on, but there were moments when we lost focus. Fortunately, we still managed to win the game," team captain Vivian said on Tuesday, July 14, as quoted by Antara.

Team Vitality played aggressively from the start, securing two Turtles and one Lord before closing out the opening game in about 12 minutes without allowing MIBR.LOS to claim any major objectives.

MIBR.LOS responded with a stronger performance in the second game, extending the match into the late-game phase. The Brazilian team successfully absorbed Team Vitality's pressure several times, making the second game far more competitive than the first.

Despite the challenge, Team Vitality capitalized on a decisive team fight in the closing stages. Their disciplined execution denied MIBR.LOS any chance of a comeback and sealed a 2-0 victory.

The result gives Team Vitality a positive start in Group B as they continue their bid to defend the world title they won last year.

Indonesia's other representative, Team Falcons ID (Falcons Vega), suffered a 0-2 defeat to China's SAETA Esports in a Group A match.

The 2026 MLBB Women's Invitational is being held from July 14 to 18 in Paris as part of the Esports World Cup, featuring 16 teams competing for the women's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang world title and a total prize pool of USD 525,000 (approximately IDR 9.48 billion). ***
