RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s medal hopes at the Asian U19 & U23 Boxing Championships 2026 now rest on two promising fighters, Anggie Intania Chalik and Dira Artika, who say they are preparing their mindset as carefully as their punches.

Both will step into the ring for their finals at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Basketball Hall in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, starting at 1 p.m. local time.

“Of course, I’ve prepared my mentality from the very beginning, and my mindset has been set as well,” Anggie said on Tuesday, July 14., 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The 16‑year‑old Jakarta native will contest the U19 women’s light flyweight (45–48 kg) final against India’s Gunjan, after edging Japan’s Yura Tanaka in a tense 3–2 semifinal.

“We had one month of training camp for this Asian Boxing event, so I’ll give everything, down to the last drop of effort, for Indonesia. We’ve studied the opponent and visualized the fight. Tomorrow, I’ll just give my best,” she added.

Still, Anggie stressed she would not burden herself with excessive expectations.

Her teammate Dira Artika, who will face India’s Prachi in the U19 women’s featherweight (57 kg) final, echoed the same sentiment. “We just try our best, and the rest we leave to God,” she said after her semifinal victory over Kazakhstan’s Aknur Tursyngali.

Head coach Kamanit Nareerakx explained that specific strategies have been prepared for both fighters. He noted that Gunjan and Prachi possess strong reach and different dominant hands, requiring Indonesia’s boxers to focus on body shots and feints to break their rhythm.

“We have prepared to focus on body punches and deceptive movements to start attacks. That is the plan,” he said.

Indonesia has already secured five bronze medals from earlier bouts, but the finals present a chance to add gold to the tally. Kamanit Nareerakx emphasized that Anggie and Dira’s preparations have been thorough, with balanced training and rest.

“I have given them what they need,” he concluded, expressing confidence that the duo can deliver maximum results. ***
