RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Two Indonesian women boxers have secured their places in the finals of the 2026 Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Championships, a victory made even more special by the presence of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who watched the semifinal bouts in Jakarta on Monday, July 13, 2026.

Vice President Gibran appeared enthusiastic as he cheered on the Indonesian athletes during the women’s semifinal matches.

The two finalists are Anggie Intania Chalik, competing in the U19 Women’s Light Flyweight (45–48 kg), and Dira Artika, in the U19 Women’s Featherweight (57 kg).

In her semifinal bout, Dira defeated Kazakhstan’s Aknur Tursyngali, advancing to the championship match and keeping Indonesia’s hopes alive for top honors in the women’s category. Anggie also secured her spot in the final after a strong performance in the 45–48 kg division. With these results, Indonesia will have two female boxers in the finals.

Their success marks a significant achievement for the Indonesian team under the guidance of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Federation (PERBATI). It also signals a positive momentum for women’s boxing in Indonesia, proving that young athletes can compete at the highest level in Asia.

PERBATI Chairman Ray Zulham praised Anggie and Dira’s accomplishments as evidence of effective athlete development. “Their success is the result of hard work by the athletes, coaches, and the entire training team. It motivates us to strengthen sustainable development systems so Indonesia can be more competitive in Asia and globally,” he said.

Ray emphasized PERBATI’s commitment to building a long‑term foundation for success, ensuring more Indonesian boxers can bring pride to the nation on the international stage. He also expressed gratitude for Vice President Gibran’s presence. “His support gave the athletes extraordinary motivation to perform with confidence and fight to their fullest,” Ray noted.

He added that government support provides vital energy for the growth of national boxing and hoped such synergy would continue to optimize athlete development and produce more achievements.

The finals of the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Championships 2026 will take place on July 15–16, with the women’s finals scheduled for July 15 and the men’s finals on July 16.
