RRI.CO.ID, South Tangerang - Two young Indonesian men’s singles shuttlers, Radithya Bayu Wardhana (U19) and Alvin Jefferson Kusuma (U17), clinched titles at the Jaya Raya Junior International GP 2026 after winning their finals in straight sets on Sunday, 12 July 2026.
Radithya Bayu Wardhana won the U19 title by defeating Malaysia’s Boon Le Lim 21-13, 21-9. The match took place at Jaya Raya Training Center - 01.TV, South Tangerang.
According to the BWF website, the contest lasted 39 minutes and served as Bayu's revenge over Lim. The pair previously met in the round of 64 at the German Junior 2026, where Bayu lost to Lim in three sets, 21-14, 17-21, 18-21.
“I’m happy to become champion for the first time at the Jaya Raya Junior International GP. I focused from the start,” said Bayu after the match.
He said the victory will boost his confidence. Next, Bayu aims to compete at the Kapolri Cup 2026 and the Hydroplus National Circuit A DKI Jakarta 2026.
“Winning here will be a reference point to build confidence for future matches, especially if I’m selected for the World Junior Championships team. My targets are the Kapolri Cup 2026 and Hydroplus National Circuit A DKI Jakarta 2026,” he added.
Meanwhile, Alvin Jefferson Kusuma captured the U17 title after beating Japan’s Taisei Kushima 24-22, 22-20.
BWF reported the match lasted 52 minutes. Alvin said his opponent played strongly and cleanly but showed vulnerability on high shots.
“My opponent’s strengths were power and tidy play, but if the high shots are varied, he becomes a bit shaky,” explained Alvin.
Alvin said he was pleased to win the Jaya Raya Junior International GP again despite having moved up an age group. He now targets national championships and national team selection.
“I’m happy to be champion again after moving up in age. Hopefully I can win again next year. Thanks to my parents, family, coaches and friends for their support. My target this year is to play in national championships and national selection,” he concluded. (Annaila Azzahra-EN)
