Indonesia Sweeps Two Golds and One Silver at the World Climbing Series Chamonix

RRI.CO.ID, France - The Indonesian climbing team secured remarkable success at the World Climbing Series Chamonix 2026 in France. Indonesia successfully brought home two golds and one silver from the individual speed events on Sunday, 12 July 2026.

Indonesia won two gold medals: Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi in the women's individual speed event and Veddriq Leonardo in the men's individual speed event. Meanwhile, Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi won the silver in the men's individual speed event.

Desak Made performed strongly from the early rounds to the final. In the gold-medal final, the Indonesian athlete faced the Italian representative, Giulia Randi. Desak Made secured the victory after recording the fastest time of 6.22 seconds, surpassing Giulia Randi, who finished with a time of 6.51 seconds.

This is Desak Made's first Chamonix title, which continues a strong run of results after her gold in the Krakow series, Poland.

She admitted to being satisfied with her performance in the final round. She mentioned that the success was due to the team's focus and support.

"Tonight I performed at my best. I am very happy to have won this gold medal for my country and my team. In my mind, I always say to do my best," Desak Made said.

Meanwhile, in the men's individual speed event, Indonesia secured gold and silver in an all-Indonesian final. Veddriq Leonardo successfully defeated his fellow countryman Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi in the final.

Veddriq clocked a time of 4.89 seconds, while Robby finished with a time of 5.11 seconds. The bronze medal was won by Japanese athlete Ryo Omasa after defeating Chinese representative Yicheng Zhao.

For Veddriq, this victory marks his first gold medal after his Olympic gold. He expressed his gratitude for the achievement and thanked the Indonesian people for their support.

"I feel very grateful. Especially since this is my first gold medal after the Olympics. Thank you for your support," he explained.

Assistant Coach of Speed Indonesia, Fitriyani, expressed appreciation for the efforts of all the athletes. According to her, the athletes were able to perform at their best even though they did not undergo special training after the Krakow series and adapted to the conditions in Chamonix.

"With all the existing limitations, the athletes were able to perform their best. They have given their best for Indonesia," she conveyed.
