RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has secured a strong foothold in the men’s speed climbing discipline at the IFSC World Climbing Series in Chamonix, France, one of the sport’s most prestigious global competitions.

The annual series, organized by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC), brings together elite athletes from around the world to race head‑to‑head on identical 15‑meter walls, testing explosive speed, precision, and consistency.

In Friday’s qualification round, three Indonesian climbers advanced to the final 16 knockout stage, underscoring the nation’s growing prominence in international speed climbing, Antara reported.

Olympic gold medalist Veddriq Leonardo led the charge, joined by Aditya Tri Syahria and Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, while teammate Raharjati Nursamsa narrowly missed the cut.

According to IFSC data, Veddriq finished sixth overall after displaying remarkable consistency across both heats, clocking his personal best of 4.860 seconds on Lane A and following it with 4.899 seconds on Lane B.

Aditya secured seventh place, demonstrating explosive speed with 4.683 seconds on Lane A, though a stumble slowed him to 6.948 seconds on Lane B.

Antasyafi captured ninth place with a steady pair of runs, recording 4.893 seconds on Lane B and 4.905 seconds on Lane A.

Raharjati had to settle for 18th place after logging times of 4.985 seconds and 5.469 seconds, missing the knockout cut by just 0.019 seconds behind American climber Michael Hom, who claimed the final qualification spot with 4.966 seconds on Lane A.

Veddriq, Aditya, and Antasyafi are scheduled to return to the wall for the high‑stakes final bracket stages on Saturday night, July 11, 2026, at 9 p.m. local time, aiming to convert their qualification momentum into World Series medals. ***
