RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Elite Indonesian speed climbers Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Kadek Adi Asih have secured their places in the final knockout stages of the IFSC World Climbing Series in Chamonix, France, keeping Indonesia’s podium hopes alive.
The duo advanced to the women’s speed final 16 after navigating a highly competitive qualification round on Friday local time, reinforcing Indonesia’s growing reputation in vertical sprint disciplines.
According to official records from the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC), Desak Made led the Indonesian contingent by finishing sixth overall in the qualification standings. She clocked an impressive 6.485 seconds on Lane B, though a minor slip on Lane A saw her post a slower 8.926 seconds.
Her teammate Kadek Adi Asih booked her spot in the knockout brackets with an 11th-place finish. Kadek displayed consistency across both lanes, recording personal bests of 6.658 seconds in Lane B and 7.563 seconds in Lane A.
The national squad’s progress was bittersweet, however, as fellow Olympian Rajiah Sallsabillah narrowly missed the cutoff in a tight finish.
Rajiah placed 17th overall after registering 6.889 seconds on Lane A and 6.746 seconds on Lane B. Her fastest run fell just 0.020 seconds short of Russian climber Milana Melnichenko, who clinched the final 16th spot with 6.726 seconds.
Desak Made and Kadek Adi will return to the wall for the round-of-16 finals in Chamonix on Saturday night at 9 p.m. local time, facing the world’s fastest vertical athletes in a high-stakes showdown. ***
