RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is using the World Climbing Series as a key stepping stone toward the 2026 Asian Games, with recent success in Poland boosting confidence ahead of the next international challenge in France.

The Indonesian Climbing Association (FPTI) said the team's performance at the World Climbing Series Krakow 2026, where the athletes collected four medals including one gold, marked an important phase in its long-term preparation for the continental event.

"Thank God, we won several medals. This is certainly an important achievement, especially because it boosts the athletes' confidence," FPTI Secretary Wahyu Pristiawan Buntoro said in a statement on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, as quoted on the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports' official website.

Following the Krakow competition, the Indonesian squad traveled directly to France to compete in the World Climbing Series Chamonix 2026, scheduled for July 10-12. Wahyu said the results in Poland should serve as motivation to maintain the team's strong form.

"We hope the next series in Chamonix will become another important part of our two-stage training program, allowing us to achieve the best possible results together," he said.

Indonesia fields 10 climbers in Chamonix, consisting of seven speed specialists and three lead climbers. The federation is optimistic about its lead discipline after Putra Tri Ramadani, also known as Srondeng, claimed gold at the World Climbing Series Prague 2026 in the Czech Republic in June.

"We hope the lead discipline can also win medals in Chamonix. We are happy because Srondeng has already shown promising results. Hopefully, both our speed and lead athletes can perform at their best," he added.

He emphasized that participation in the World Climbing Series is an integral part of Indonesia's preparation for the Asian Games.

"This is all part of our journey toward the Asian Games. Our main target is to achieve the best possible results there, and every World Climbing Series event is an inseparable part of that preparation," he concluded. ***
