RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Fresh from a strong showing in Krakow, Indonesia is sending 10 athletes to compete in the World Climbing Series Chamonix 2026 in France from July 10–12.

The squad includes seven speed climbers and three lead climbers, marking a balanced lineup across disciplines. Team manager Wahyu Pristiawan Buntoro confirmed that the speed roster remains unchanged from Krakow, with athletes traveling directly to France.

“Meanwhile, the lead team and I departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Chamonix on Wednesday, July 8, 2026” said Pristiawan, known as Pria, who also serves as Secretary-General of the Indonesian Sport Climbing Federation (FPTI), as quoted by Antara.

The speed team features Veddriq Leonardo, Raharjati Nursamsa, Aditya Tri Syahria, and Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi in the men’s category, alongside Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, Raji’ah Sallsabillah, and Kadek Adi Asih in the women’s. For lead, Indonesia fields Putra Tri Ramadani (Srondeng), Ravianto Ramadhan, and Alma Ariella Tsany.

All three lead climbers have already qualified for the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, making Chamonix a crucial opportunity to sharpen their skills.

“Chamonix is an important chance for the three lead climbers to gain more competition experience before the Asian Games,” Pria explained.

Each squad will be accompanied by a coach during the tournament. Participation in Chamonix is expected to help Indonesia maintain consistency in speed climbing at the global level while giving lead athletes valuable international exposure ahead of the Asian Games and other IFSC competitions.

Indonesia arrives in France after winning four medals in Krakow: one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. The standout was Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, who captured gold in the women’s individual speed, silver in the mixed relay with Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, and bronze in the women’s relay with Raji’ah Sallsabillah. Raharjati Nursamsa added another bronze in the men’s individual speed.

With momentum from Krakow, Indonesia hopes to continue its rise in the international climbing arena at Chamonix. ***
