RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi showcased the strength of his mental game as he captured the ITF M15 Wuning 2026 singles crown in China on Sunday, June 5, ending a near three‑year wait for another title.
The 27‑year‑old, seeded fifth, did not drop a set throughout the tournament and sealed victory with a commanding 6–3, 6–3 win over Russia’s Amirkhamza Nasridinov in the final.
The triumph marks Rifqi’s second ITF singles title, following his breakthrough at the Harum Energy Men’s World Tennis Tour in Jakarta back in 2023.
“I’ve been here for two weeks. Last week I lost in the first round, but this week I managed to take the title. This is my first singles trophy since Jakarta 2023,” Rifqi stated as quoted by Antara.
Rifqi credited his success to a sharpened mental approach, which he considers the decisive factor in tennis. “For me, it’s more about the mental side because 80 percent of tennis is in the mind. If we can handle it, enjoy every point, every match, the results will come,” he explained.
Despite hitting fewer aces than his opponent, Rifqi’s consistency proved crucial. He emphasized professionalism both on and off the court, while also acknowledging the importance of rest for athletes.
“Regardless of winning or not, I enjoy competing. Of course, my team and I set targets to perform at our best, but sometimes the body needs recovery,” he said.
Grateful for the breakthrough, Rifqi sees the Wuning title as a timely boost ahead of the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan, this September. “This is a very good foundation for my Asian Games preparation,” he noted. ***
