RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis players Janice Tjen and Aldila Sutjiadi bowed out of the women’s doubles at Wimbledon 2026, but not without displaying grit and resilience in a close second‑round battle against Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine and Elena‑Gabriela Ruse of Romania.

The match ended 4–6, 6–7(8) after one hour and 49 minutes at the All England Club on Saturday, June 4, 2026.

Janice/Aldila opened strongly, racing to a 2–0 lead in the first set before Kostyuk/Ruse responded with five consecutive games, Antara reported. The Indonesians fought back to 4–5 but ultimately conceded the set 4–6.

The second set saw momentum swing both ways. Kostyuk/Ruse broke early to lead 3–0, only for Janice/Aldila to rally and edge ahead 4–3. The contest tightened further, with the Indonesians saving multiple match points at 4–5 to force a tie‑break.

They held the advantage at 8–7 before their opponents leveled and closed out the decider 10–8. Statistically, the match was finely balanced.

Kostyuk/Ruse won 83 points to Janice/Aldila’s 78, while the Indonesians posted a higher first‑serve percentage (63% compared to 55%). They also kept errors to a minimum, committing just nine unforced mistakes against 14 from their opponents.

Despite the loss, the performance reflected discipline and composure, underscoring the pair’s growing presence on the Grand Slam stage. The defeat ended their run in women’s doubles, following Janice’s earlier exit in singles.

Aldila, however, remains in contention at Wimbledon, having advanced to the mixed doubles round of 16 alongside Argentine partner Guido Andreozzi. Their progress keeps Indonesia’s hopes alive in the tournament. ***
