RRI.CO.ID, London - Janice Tjen’s run in the women’s singles event at Wimbledon 2026, the world’s oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament, ended in the second round after the Indonesian lost to Daria Kasatkina in three sets, 7‑6(7‑5), 1‑6, 4‑6, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Playing on Court 16 at the All England Club, Janice made a strong start by taking a 4‑1 lead in the opening set. Kasatkina fought back to level the score at 4‑4.
The Jakarta‑born player regained the advantage at 6‑5 after both players held serve, before the set was decided in a tie‑break at 6‑6.
In the tie‑break, Janice trailed 1‑5 but staged a comeback to win the first set 7‑6(7‑5).
Kasatkina dominated the second set, with Janice managing to win only one game before losing 1‑6 in 31 minutes.
The deciding set was closely contested after Janice took an early 1‑0 lead. Kasatkina then turned the match around to move ahead 5‑3.
Janice held serve in the ninth game to narrow the score to 4‑5, but Kasatkina sealed the victory by taking the third set 6‑4.
The defeat ended Janice’s campaign at the 2026 Wimbledon women’s singles. Earlier in the tournament, she had drawn attention by upsetting 22nd seed Leylah Fernandez.
