RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Two young Indonesian figure skaters combined sporting excellence with cultural diplomacy after winning multiple titles at the 2026 Ice Skating Institute (ISI) Asia World Ice Arena Beijing Figure Skating Championship on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Their achievement showcased Indonesia’s emerging talent in winter sports while promoting the country’s cultural heritage on an international stage.
The success offers Indonesia a valuable opportunity to raise its profile in figure skating, a sport with limited exposure in the tropical nation, while strengthening cultural outreach through performances at one of Asia’s international skating competitions.
Ten-year-old Adena Thariza Ardhani captured three titles: Open FS Bronze (Girls 10 Years), Artistic FS 1–2 (Girls 10 Years), and Family Spotlight with the theme Wonderful Indonesia.
Seven-year-old Inara Thariza Sarasvati matched the feat by winning Open FS Bronze (Girls 7 Years), Artistic FS 1–2 (Mixed 7 Years), and Family Spotlight under the same Wonderful Indonesia theme.
In the Family Spotlight category, Adena and Inara performed choreography inspired by Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, featuring traditional costumes and Indonesian-influenced music. The performance served as a platform to introduce Indonesian culture to an international audience through sport.
“The success of Adena and Inara in winning first place in three categories is a proud achievement, not only because it demonstrates the quality of Indonesia’s young athletes at the international level, but also because it combines sporting achievement with the promotion of Indonesian culture through the Wonderful Indonesia theme,” Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Djauhari Oratmangun said while receiving the athletes and their families at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing on Wednesday, July 1, as quoted by Antara.
The championship is one of the international figure skating events organized by the International Skating Institute Asia. It provides a platform for skaters of various ages to showcase technical ability, artistic expression, and creativity, while promoting sporting and cultural exchanges among countries across Asia.
Athletes competed in several categories, including Free Skating (FS), Artistic Skating, and Family Spotlight, with performances evaluated based on technical execution, artistic presentation, choreography, creativity, and overall quality in accordance with ISI Asia judging standards.
Ambassador Djauhari also congratulated the athletes, their coaches, and families for supporting their development and international journey.
He expressed hope that their achievement would inspire more Indonesian youth to pursue excellence in sports, represent the country internationally, and introduce Indonesia’s cultural richness on the global stage. ***
