RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Three young Indonesian athletes have qualified for the prestigious 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon after meeting the entry standards during the Indonesia Open Athletics Championship.

They also delivered strong performances at the 2026 National Athletics Championships for the U16, U18, and U20 categories, held at Rawamangun Athletics Stadium in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

The athletes who secured their places at the World Athletics U20 Championships are:

  • Shava S. Warangga (Central Java) – Women’s 100 meters
  • Hoshi Fatihah Azharah (East Java) – Women’s 200 meters
  • Anugrah Setiawan Pujo (East Java) – Men’s 110-meter hurdles

Their qualification stands out as one of the most significant achievements of this year’s Indonesia Open and National Championships. They will represent Indonesia at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from August 5–9, 2026.

Secretary General of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI), Jodi Mahardi, praised the athletes’ achievement and urged them to continue preparing both technically and mentally.

“This achievement proves that our youth development program is beginning to reach international standards. However, I want the athletes not to be satisfied too quickly, because this is only the first step,” Jodi said.

“Our focus now is to further strengthen their technical preparation and competitive mindset so that we do not merely participate but are able to compete against the world’s elite athletes,” he added.

In response, PASI has committed to providing full support through intensive training and preparation programs.

The participation of these young talents on the world stage is expected to inspire athletes across the country, drive performance, and strengthen Indonesia’s tradition of developing future athletics stars. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
