RRI.CO.ID, Ahmedabad – Indonesia's men's national volleyball team made history by winning the 2026 AVC Men's Volleyball Cup for the first time after defeating South Korea in straight sets, 3-0 (34-32, 25-16, 25-23), in the final at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, India, on Sunday (June 28, 2026) evening.

Indonesia delivered an impressive performance despite falling behind early in the opening set. South Korea raced to a 6-1 lead before extending its advantage to 15-12 and 19-15.

According to a statement from Indonesia's Ministry of Youth and Sports on Monday , June 29, 2026, the Red and White squad mounted a remarkable comeback under pressure. Facing set point at 22-24, Indonesia leveled the score at 24-24 to force the set into deuce.

The tense battle continued until Boy Arnez Arabi sealed the opening set with a decisive service ace, giving Indonesia a dramatic 34-32 victory.

The momentum carried into the second set as Indonesia dominated through the precise playmaking of setter Alfin Daniel Pratama. His well-distributed sets were effectively converted into points by opposite hitter Rama Fazza Fauzan and outside hitter Farhan Halim. Indonesia took control midway through the set and cruised to a commanding 25-16 win.

South Korea responded with greater intensity in the third set, with both teams trading points in a closely contested battle that remained level at 20-20.

However, Indonesia stayed composed in the crucial moments. Led by middle blocker Hendra Kurniawan's solid defensive presence, the team pulled ahead 23-20 before closing out the set 25-23 to secure the championship.

The title marks Indonesia's best-ever achievement in the history of the AVC Men's Volleyball Cup. Prior to this triumph, the team's best finishes were sixth place in the 2023 and 2025 editions, while it finished 11th in 2024.

"It feels incredible. This is history for Indonesia. It is the first time in our history that we have won this tournament. Thank you very much to the players, because without them, we would not have been able to achieve this," Indonesia men's national volleyball team head coach Alfonso Gonzales Toiran said after the match.
