RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's men's volleyball team won the 2026 AVC Men's Cup, one of Asia's premier men's volleyball tournaments organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), after defeating South Korea 3-0 in the final. The victory came through scores of 34-32, 25-16, and 25-23 in the championship match.

The 2026 AVC Men's Cup final took place in India on Sunday evening, June 28, 2026. The Red and White squad completed the match in straight sets without allowing their opponents to claim a single set.

Head coach Reidel Toiran made changes to the lineup for the final. Rama Fazza replaced Fauzan Nibras, while Putra Hidayatullah came in for Ahmad Gumilar.

Alfin Daniel, Boy Arnez Arabi, Hendra Kurniawan, and Farhan Halim remained the team's first-choice players from the start. The changes were considered to have had a positive impact on Indonesia's performance.

Indonesia men's volleyball team assistant coach Nur Widayanto praised the players for their efforts. He said the achievement answered doubts about the team's capabilities.

"Thank God, it feels like a dream. Many people doubted this team, but the players answered with an extraordinary achievement, even surpassing the federation's target," Nur Widayanto told RRI.co.id on Monday, June 29, 2026.

Nur explained that Indonesia struggled in the first set due to South Korea's powerful serves. As a result, the team's attacking patterns did not develop effectively.

"In the first set, we were surprised by the Korean players' serves, which caused difficulties for us. As a result, our attacks were not effective and were easily blocked," he said.

According to Nur, Indonesia's performance improved significantly from the second set onward. The team's aggressive serves put South Korea's defense under constant pressure.

"Starting from the second set, many of our serves troubled the opponents, especially those from Boy Arnez and Farhan Halim. From there, our blockers were able to score points, while our back-row players collected defensive balls that turned into counterattacks," he continued.

Nur also praised the strategy implemented by coach Reidel Toiran throughout the match. He considered the substitutions to be one of the key factors behind Indonesia's success.

"Equally important was Coach Toiran's brilliant strategy. He brought in Rama Fazza to replace Nibras, who was underperforming today. Thankfully, Rama contributed many points through attacks and serves. That substitution was truly successful," Nur said. (Diffa Sephiawardhani-EN)
