RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s young shuttlers will face top‑seeded Thailand in the quarterfinals of the mixed team event at the 2026 Asian Junior Championships, scheduled at the Yatsushiro City General Gymnasium in Japan on Monday, June 29, 2026.
According to the official BWF website, Indonesia advanced to the quarterfinals as runners-up in Group D, while Thailand progressed as winners of Group A.
The clash with Thailand will be a tough test for the Garuda Muda squad, given the opponent’s balanced lineup, particularly in the women’s singles and women’s doubles divisions.
In women’s singles, Indonesia is relying on Mayla Cahya Afilian Pratiwi, who is likely to face Yataweeming Ketklieng, a Thai player with experience in several BWF World Tour tournaments. Thailand also boasts Anyapat Phichitpreechasak, the 2025 world junior champion.
With such strength, Fardhan Raindanda Joe and his teammates are expected to play cohesively from the opening match to keep their semifinal hopes alive.
Meanwhile, Malaysia, which topped Group D after defeating Indonesia 2-1, will face China in the quarterfinals. China finished runner-up in Group B after losing 2-0 to Japan in their final group match. Japan will then meet Taiwan, while India will take on Hong Kong.
